Professor Stephan Collishaw serves as co-director for the Wolfson Centre for Young People’s Mental Health and Professor in the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Section in the Division of Psychological Medicine and Clinical Neurosciences at Cardiff University. In 2020, he was elected a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences. His research takes a lifecourse developmental approach to study common mental health problems including depression and anxiety.  His research examines population-level change in young people’s mental health, and tests which factors explain the substantial increase in youth anxiety and depression in recent generations. He is also interested in protective factors that promote mental health resilience in high risk children.
