Garden of Life Named Official Certified Cleanup Partner for 4ocean

On Jan. 14, 4ocean (Boca Raton, FL), an ocean cleanup company that sells products made from recycled materials, announced supplement manufacturer Garden of Life (Palm Beach Gardens, FL) will join the clean ocean movement as a Certified Cleanup Partner.

This partnership will help clean more than 500,000 pounds of plastic and trash from oceans, rivers and coastlines across the world by the end of 2027, the companies said.

According to a 2022 report from the World Economic Forum, there is currently upwards of 200 million tons of plastic in the world’s oceans. There is also an additional 400 million tons of plastic produced globally, a number expected to triple by 2050. Marine ecosystems are in dire need of a coordinated response to clean and restore them to their natural state.

Plastic pollution is not just an environmental issue, but it also threatens the global economy and global food security. According to 4ocean, ocean-based industries such as fishing and tourism employ billions of people and contribute several trillion dollars’ worth of goods and services to the global economy every year. In addition, more than 3 billion people get their primary source of protein from seafood.

Becoming a Certified Cleanup Partner is the fastest and easiest way to partner with 4ocean to clean oceans, rivers and coastlines, the company stated. Brands that achieve this certification connect with 4ocean’s partnership teams to discuss cleanup and sustainability goals to calculate the greatest impact they can provide. Partners support cleanup efforts through funding cleanup operations, which is translated via social media, marketing materials and an official certificate.

“We are incredibly stoked for Garden of Life to join us in the clean ocean movement,” said Alex Schulze, co-founder and CEO of 4ocean. “Our own health is tied to the health of our marine ecosystems, and we’re looking forward to the huge impact in ocean restoration that we will achieve from this partnership.”

Garden of Life joins other top brands, such as HP Inc., Mount Gay Rum of Barbados and United States Polo Association.

“We are thrilled to align with the 4ocean organization as its newest Certified Cleanup Partner,” said Heather Storms, senior director of brand marketing at Garden of Life. “Garden of Life is committed to empowering health through clean nutrition, and to truly achieve this we must prioritize the health of the planet and the importance of clean oceans. Together with 4ocean, we aim to drive positive change for our environment with the goal of removing 500,000 pounds of trash from our waterways by the end of 2027.”
